Burroughs is the only school in Missouri’s six classes that had both its girls and boys basketball teams advance to the final four in the 2023-24 season. Both teams made it to the championship game — the girls placed first and the boys placed second making it a milestone year for the Burroughs basketball program. Drey Land The school’s 40-acre wilderness camp in the Ozarks hosts the seventh grade orientation in the fall, as well as a science field study program for 9th graders in the spring. Many outdoor education programs also take place at Drey Land. Great Performances Through both coursework and performance, our Performing Arts Department introduces students to a wide variety of genre, from satire to Shakespeare, from small troupe to a full ensemble with chorus and orchestra. Community Engagement Each October, 8th graders volunteer with a variety of local organizations as part of their class-wide Community Engagement Week. The Arts Front and Center All of our students participate in some aspect of our arts program: drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography—from the introductory level to intensive studies. National Merit Semifinalists Fifteen students from the Class of 2024 were recently named semifinalists, while 13 other seniors received a Letter of Commendation. Leave no part of yourself at the door. Burroughs Every Day Sports Offerings Our PE/Athletics department offers dozens of sports & activities for students to participate in. Music Assembly Student musical performances are an assembly favorite. Student Spirit Spirit is abundant on campus throughout the year but never more than during our fall Spirit Week. Burroughs Every Day Community Service Community Service is a long and defining tradition at JBS. Performing Arts Students at all grade levels participate in theatre, music and dance productions. Guests on Campus Nationally recognized speakers contribute to assembly and classroom discussions. 2024 Visual Arts Assembly During assembly on Thursday, April 29, Fine Arts teacher Ashley Edgerton introduced a video roundup of work produced by students in all grades during the 2020-2021 school year.
